MAP Consulting
Massachusetts Medication Administration Program — training, audits, and policy in one partnership.
Massachusetts Medication Administration Program (MAP) training, audits, and documentation.

What this looks like in practice
MAP is the Massachusetts framework allowing certified unlicensed staff in DDS, DMH, and DCF community programs to administer medications to clients. Compliance with MAP is non-negotiable — and the standards are detailed. We provide the full consulting package so your program runs smoothly and stays in good standing.
Our MAP consultant pharmacist delivers initial certification training (8 hours over multiple sessions), annual refresher courses for re-certification, on-site audits of your medication storage and administration practices, error-review and remediation when incidents occur, and policy/procedure development tailored to your program's setting.
Programs we partner with see fewer medication errors, smoother surveys, and staff who are more confident in what they're doing. We also serve as a resource — your delegates can call us when something doesn't look right, before it becomes an incident.

Common Questions
Frequently asked questions.
What is MAP exactly?
Medication Administration Program — the Massachusetts framework allowing unlicensed staff (after certification) to administer prescribed medications to clients in DDS, DMH, DCF, and other community programs. Without MAP, only nurses can administer.
How often do staff need to re-certify?
Annually. We deliver the refresher courses, document attendance, and provide your program with the records for state oversight.
What if we have a medication error?
Call us immediately. We do post-incident review with structured root-cause analysis and recommend remediation. We can also represent your program in state-level reviews.
Do you serve programs across the state, or just Central MA?
Primarily Central MA where we can do regular on-site visits. We've also partnered with programs further out on a hybrid model — quarterly visits plus on-call consultation.
